Logistic process in oversized transport

Every transport order is a challenge, explains FRUCTUS TRANSPORT. Already at the planning stage, you need to consider the time of departure, the optimal route avoiding road obstacles and traffic jams, and be ready for any eventuality. An additional problem arises when we carry out oversized transport. What challenges does it pose to us?

Oversized transport

Oversized transport is one in which an oversized load is transported. These are items whose size or weight exceed generally accepted standards. If this occurs, the carrier must meet stringent standards during transport. When do we classify transport as oversized? When the transported goods are:

- longer than 16.5 m,
- wider than 2.5 m,
- higher than 4 m,
- heavier than 42 tons.

Such goods include mainly elements of wind turbines, agricultural and industrial machines.

Logistics of oversized transport

Logistics in planning oversized transport is not easy. When planning a route, remember to avoid difficult infrastructure elements, such as sharp turns, low bridges, permissible weight limits or simply narrow streets. Therefore, often the chosen route is not the shortest. It happens that for the duration of the transport, for example, a street needs to be closed - then the police must be notified about the findings, with whom decisions are made together. Transportation of oversized goods usually takes place at night. It is guided by a pilot who is constantly at a distance of several dozen meters.
