Did you know that:
Wholesale and export cooperation with Polish fruit nurseries
Wholesale trade in fruit nursery stock is usually planned months before the planting season. Importers, orchard developers, distributors and professional growers often need uniform lots, confirmed varieties, export documents and predictable delivery dates. This is why cooperation with Polish nurseries should start early, especially for larger orders or material intended for regulated markets.
Season, packing and transport
Bare-root fruit trees and shrubs are often lifted and shipped during dormancy. Container plants, berry plants and young plants may follow different production and delivery schedules. Buyers should ask when the nursery can confirm availability, when the plants will be lifted, whether they can be stored in cold rooms and how long the supplier needs to prepare labels, packing lists and plant health documents.
Live plants are not ordinary cargo. Roots, buds and young shoots can be damaged by drying, frost, overheating or border delays. Some countries restrict soil or growing media, so the plant form and packing method should be discussed before the order is confirmed.
Import rules and variety restrictions
Plants for planting are regulated in many English-speaking markets. Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand may require import permits, phytosanitary certificates, pest-risk checks, additional declarations, treatments or post-entry quarantine. Requirements can differ by species, country of origin, plant form and current plant health rules.
Some fruit varieties, rootstocks and branded cultivars may also be protected by plant breeders rights or licensing rules. This does not always mean they are unavailable, but propagation, resale, commercial planting or use of a protected variety name may require authorisation.
Frequently asked questions
When should wholesale buyers contact Polish nurseries?
Early contact is recommended because nursery stock is seasonal and large uniform lots may be reserved before the lifting period.
Can nursery stock be shipped like standard goods?
No. Live plants may need inspection, correct labelling, clean packing, temperature control, customs documents and destination-specific import clearance.
Who checks import requirements?
The importer should check the destination country's rules, while the exporter confirms which documents and plant preparation can be provided for the shipment.
